This year I purchased several books on Paper Toys. My favorites were Urban Paper by Matt Hawkins, the incredible metal tin of mechanical Paper Toys by Francois Chetcuti, and Print! Cut! Fold! Glue! by J.E.Moores. These three books are by far the most fun for me because the designs are so unusual, fun, and wacky. Many of the paper craft books are for little kids with soft watercolor designs. Those are great for your little girl, but these books are edgier. More suited for young geeky fellas into cars, monsters, graffiti, and computers. The metal tin by Chetcuti are very advanced and can take all day or more to build because they all have mechanical moving parts you build from paper. One thing that makes the book by Moores easy, is that on his web site [...] Jay posts free instruction videos of him building his paper toys, and that made it easier for me to simply watch the short video while I made the toy. Plus, Jay's book has a creative commons license that states it's OK for folk to make noncommercial copies of the paper toys, so one does not have to cut up the book. Very cool. I say if a collection of bizarre paper toys sounds like fun to you, check 'em all out.
The book is wonderful, colorful, and just plain amazing. Kids can learn a lot from these fabulous designs which stimulate the imagination. Adults can too! I plan to buy another book, so I have a spare to entertain my friends' children with. Alas, I've already completed my book. It would be wonderful if the author came up with a sequel--I'd be first in line to get one. Absolutely amazing! More! More! More!
